Many families each year lose their loved ones to mental health. Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem in any given year, with 1 in 6 reporting anxiety and depression every week. Male suicides have consistently accounted for approximately three quarters of all suicides in the UK for the last 30 years, and the leading cause of death for men under fifty. It's something we all need to tackle, as a society and as a community; to break the stigma and support those in need, not only in the UK but globally. Loneliness is the theme of this year's Mental Health Awareness Week, an issue that many of our families face when losing a loved one. The longer we feel lonely, the more we are at risk of mental health problems.
At Cliff Bradley & Sons we are acutely aware of loneliness and how that impacts mental health, supporting those bereaved and even our team members through difficult times. Many people struggle to come to terms with loss and the feeling of being alone, losing that one person who has always been there, that rock beside them or at the end of the phone. People grieving often worry about being judged or feeling like a burden, leading to isolation and loneliness and a downward spiral. If this sounds familiar, please talk and don't suffer in silence. It's important to remember that we are all human, and that it's okay to not be okay. For those struggling with grief, we will always strive to make things easier, providing free bereavement counselling to families in our care. Together, we can tackle loneliness, better understand the signs, talk and break the stigma around mental health.
With a proud sixty year history, our funeral directors will care for your loved one as if they were our own, our family caring for yours.
