About Cliff Bradley & Sons Gainsborough

About Cliff Bradley & Sons

Established in 1964, Cliff Bradley & Sons has gone from strength to strength, building on our reputation for providing a friendly, compassionate and professional funeral service to those in Gainsborough and the surrounding areas. With over 50 years of experience, we are proud to be an independent family run and owned business. We’re proud to be members of three trade associations, the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD), the National Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) as well as a member of the British Institute of Funeral Directors (BIFD). Our staff are trained and qualified to act as professional and confident advisors who ensure that arrangements are carried out with efficiency and the dignity that this most difficult occasion demands.

No business is able to provide an excellent service without the dedication of the people who work within it, and within our company we have a team who believe in and practice their vocation of support and care for families in their time of need. Our reputation, dedication and service is something that as a truly independent business we are able to offer. Independently owned and run funeral homes can unfortunately be very few and far between these days. Many funeral homes are owned by large companies and conglomerates who answer to accountants. As an independent family firm we only answer to you, the customer. There are currently three Bradley’s working full time within the business, Cliff and two of his sons, Carlton and Mannie. We also employ a number of other staff and offer a continually high level of service to the community.

Our Services

Cliff Bradley

With now over 55 years of experience, Cliff is a reassuring and calming figure at the head of the company, helping to train the next generation. He entered into the funeral profession after serving his apprenticeship at Wildbore’s on Wembley Street in Gainsborough, just around the corner from where we are situated today. Cliff has worked immensely hard since establishing the business in 1964. Starting out in his home village of Blyton, Cliff progressed to larger premises in Gainsborough on Bradley’s Walk, before relocating to the much larger site on Heaton Street. In 2014, Cliff marked 50 years in the profession by holding an Open Day which attracted in excess of 250 visitors.

Carlton Bradley

Carlton was born into the profession. From a young age he was encouraged to help with all aspects of the profession, from car washing and bearing to arranging. Carlton decided to put his wealth of experience into good use by joining the business full time in 2005. Carlton studied hard for and achieved his Diploma in Funeral Arranging and Administration in 2013, and in 2015 received his Diploma in Funeral Directing and was accepted as a member of the British Institute of Funeral Directors.

Oliver Batty

Olly has been a friend of our family since 2009 when, in his former occupation, he helped to re-wire our premises during the extension and refurbishment. Olly initially joined our out of hours team in 2016 and rapidly proved to be a great asset with his caring and thoughtful attitude and ambition to learn. His enthusiasm and passion to increase his knowledge is exemplary which is why, in 2017, he became a full time member of the team. Outside of work he has a keen interest in football and music. Olly became a qualified Funeral Director in July 2020 after receiving his Certificate in Funeral Practice.

Mannie Bradley

Mannie (short for Manfred) had been previously employed in the motor industry, and although he didn’t grow up involved with the family business, he soon adapted to the profession when he joined the company in 2000. Mannie has two sons, Jack and Oliver who are both encouraged to help whenever possible.

Beck Bolan

Beck, who is Carlton’s nephew, aims to put to good use his knowledge of I.T and Business Studies following the recent completion of his studies at John Leggott College. Beck has shown a keen interest in the role and responsibilities of being a funeral director and has already commenced his training to become qualified. Outside of work, Beck enjoys sports including boxing.

Colin McMurray

Colin has had a varied career, previously working down the pit at Bevercotes colliery. Colin joined our facilities team after taking a step into his semi-retirement from his previous career as a school caretaker. Colin takes great care of our gardens, performs general maintenance at our offices and assists with funerals. Colin enjoys looking after his grand children, watching football and running 10k events.

Stuart Bobyk

Stuart has been part of our family since 1996 when we relocated to our current premises on Heaton Street. Little 8-year-old Stuart would be waiting for us to arrive early on a Sunday morning to help us continue with the refurbishments, brush and mop in hand! Stuart joined us in 2017 as our Facilities Manager to enable Carlton to concentrate more on funeral arranging and training our younger staff.

Edward Kliszcz

Edd has been with us since the tender age of 13, working weekends and school holidays. Upon completion of his secondary education he started part time before deciding upon his preferred profession, and the rest is history. Edd is very enthusiastic towards learning, and enjoys broadening his knowledge and skills. He became a qualified Funeral Director in July 2018 after receiving his Certificate in Funeral Practice.

Samantha Fairhurst

Samantha, or Sam as she is affectionately known to us, started her career at the age of 13 as our Saturday girl in the florists. Once her secondary education was complete, Sam put her talents to good use and became a full time member of the team. Sam’s interests didn’t stop at flowers, she showed a natural ability and finesse interacting with people and being able to put them at their ease. Sam works hard and became a qualified Funeral Director in 2018 after receiving her Certificate in Funeral Practice.

Serena Grundy

Serena has been an integral part of our facilities team for a number of years, during which her role and responsibilities have evolved. Her caring personality, can do approach and eagerness to help is a credit to her and a great bonus to our company. Serena’s duties are often unseen or taken as red, but without her valued contribution we wouldn’t be able to continue to deliver a high level of service to our clients.
