Funeral Transport

At Cliff Bradley & Sons we are proud to provide a beautiful fleet of hybrid, black Mercedes-Benz hearses and limousines for your loved one's final journey in the funeral cortege. Our aim is to ensure that your loved one has a dignified final journey with its own personal touch.

Alternative Funeral Fleet Options

We strive to ensure that every aspect of your loved one’s funeral is personally tailored to them, and that includes their final journey. There are many options available, from lorries and off road vehicles to camper vans, and even motorbikes with sidecars.

Funeral Fleet Environmental Aims

Hybrid vehicles with the ability to travel in full electric mode for up to thirty miles, our funeral fleet aligns with our environmental objectives to lessen our impact on the local climate, allowing us to not only care for our families now, but into the future.

Quieter Funeral Processions

We complete most of our shorter journeys under electric power, offering occupants of our limousines reduced noise, silent processions, a more peaceful setting in which to mourn and solemn arrivals at crematoriums, committals and burials.

The Final Journey in the Funeral Cortege

Planning your loved one's final journey is important, and it is natural for families to want it to be special. Traditionally, the deceased travels in the hearse with any floral tributes laid aside, with close family following behind in either one or two limousines. The cortege will take the route from our funeral homes to the church, cemetery or crematorium and may pass locations of significance in the deceased’s life, such as their home or a favourite outdoor place.

For many the funeral cortege is one of the most poignant aspects of the funeral. Our aim is to ensure that your loved one has a dignified and special final journey with its own personal touch. Aside from our own fleet of exquisitely tailored and finished vehicles, we can also provide a range of alternative options to suit your requirements including horse drawn carriages, motorcycle hearses, vintage cars, a fleet of off-road vehicles, and even retro camper vans and lorries.

Traditional Funeral Car Fleet

We are incredibly proud to introduce our new fleet of Mercedes funeral vehicles. Brand new, custom designed and based on the E Class AMG Line Edition, this is the first time in our history that we’ve had a matching fleet of hearses and limousines, as we strive to provide our families with the very best into our next generation. Exquisitely tailored and finished, with full length panoramic windows and ambient lighting in the limousines, we hope that these vehicles provide optimum comfort to you and your family on an emotional day, and as part of a beautiful tribute in your loved ones final journey.

Horse Drawn Funerals

A horse drawn carriage is one of the many options we can provide to our families for funeral transport. Offering stately elegance and a sense of gravitas proceeding before the funeral cortege, hearse carriages are available in multiple colours, with horses in plumes and full regalia, providing a beautiful and serene experience with great respect and dignity. Based locally, our carriage master, Karen Bassett, is a leading international horse team driver with decades of experience, representing the country numerous times in driving championships, regarded as one of the most successful lady drivers in the world.

Working with Karen and her team, we strive to recreate the elegance of a bygone era, where every detail can be tailored to make your loved ones journey extra special. Arrangements can be made for a team of either four or six horses, two liveried outriders and even mourners carriages. With an ability to fully tailor the service, families are able to choose plume colours and different types of regalia, horse numbers and colour including grey, white, black, bay or a mix, and colour of the carriage from a choice of either white, silver, gold, pink or rainbow pattern. Traditional gun carriages are also available.

Land Rover Funerals

Many of us followed coverage from the funeral of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh a couple of years back. Some may have noticed the bespoke Land Rover Defender hearse used in his cortege, a project spanning sixteen years and designed by the Duke himself. Finished in military green with an open top rear, it was one of the many personal touches throughout that day, part of which makes each and every funeral a unique celebration of life. Did your loved one enjoy off road vehicles too, use them in a profession or for leisure, or share the royal passion for the quintessentially British Land Rover?

Partnering with many providers of specialist vehicles nationwide, we can arrange a range of different transport options for enthusiasts departed, including a Land Rover Defender hearse in a choice of colours, with differing specifications, age and trim levels. These special hearses can be combined with a Defender 110 County Station Wagon, seating up to eight passengers to create a stunning and matching fleet for the deceased and the family. Our own off road fleet vehicle, an immaculately maintained Land Rover Discovery in black, can also to be utilised in the cortege.

Land Rover Funeral Pricing

Pricing for a Land Rover funeral depends on many factors including the hearse model, whether vehicles are required for the cortege too, and the funeral location. Full pricing is available on request following discussions with your dedicated funeral director.

Lorry, Truck and HGV Funerals

Heavy goods vehicle drivers often have a lifelong passion for their lorry, their profession and life on the road. In their final journey what could be a more fitting tribute to them than to be transported by a similar vehicle, for a personal, bespoke and dignified exit? With a proud history dating back over sixty years, we have developed partnerships with many of the providers who specialise in lorries, heavy goods vehicles, trucks and flatbeds for use as hearse, for a funeral that evokes memories of the deceased, and creates a sense of pride for family, friends, mourners, onlookers and passers-by.

Lorries and goods vehicles come in many different forms, styles and sizes dating back decades, so please discuss with your funeral director, and let us know if your loved one had passion for classic, drove a specific truck, or anything which might be relevant. We will always strive to find a vehicle that best suits the requirements, even if this is from a provider that we haven’t previously worked with. Most commonly we use two types of lorry for our funerals, which include a modern ERF truck outfitted with a special covered cargo bed, and a more traditional vintage lorry with standard wooden bed.

Lorry Funeral Pricing

Volkswagen & Morris Minor Funeral Hearses

Sure to leave a lasting impression to mourners and passers-by as your loved take their final journey, we can provide a range of vintage and retro vehicles including Volkswagen campervans and the classic Moggy, of which many drove in the sixties and seventies. We can provide a huge range of choices, only limited by the interests of your dearly departed and your imagination. Our most popular vehicles in this category are photographed below and include a Morris Minor Traveller hearse and a meticulously converted VW split screen camper hearse, which is the only known vehicle operational in the country.

A British staple from the late forties until the early seventies, the Morris Minor was a popular vehicle in its day and still very popular amongst collectors and those who had a penchant for the classic car. Retro campervans are also an option, available in a choice of model including a bay window and split screen, in white and Georgian silver respectively. Lovingly converted into hearses, we can provide several options with intricate coachwork, shiny trim, delicate signage and illuminated decks. Whatever your requirements, please do let us know and will try our best to source an appropriate option for your loved one.
